The Alpha Gamma Delta mission statement is "Inspire the women, Impact the world".
While it is a rather simple mission, I think overall it has a great meaning and sometimes simplicity is all you need to get a point across. By us making a difference to girls in our sorority, girls outside of our sorority and women in general, we can make a difference in this world one step at a time. Ironically enough, our philanthropy is juvenile diabetes and a goal of all AGD's was to walk 10,000 miles in a span of two years to raise awareness, which we completed. Each step that we took brought us closer to our goal and raised awareness, slowly impacting our world today and bringing more awareness towards juvenile diabetes.
That is one way that our sorority is congruent with our mission statement. Along with our philanthropy events, we also support many other fraternities and sororities philanthropy events too. I know I personally attended a few last year and plan on being involved in even more this year. Along with going to other philanthropy events were also very active throughout other organizations. Last year we had a team in the Power Puff football tournament that raised awareness of relationship abuse. Many of our girls are also associated with leadership opportunities, Buckeyethon, and PHA. Another way AGD is congruent with our mission statement is through our education. Our sorority looks highly upon education and makes sure that every girl is doing the best to her ability. When people perform well, we are recognized through "mama's fridge" where we put post it notes up of good grades that we got. Also, every quarter girls who get above a 3.14 are given a gift and recognized in front of everyone. Even if a girl didn't do her best one quarter, we have study tables and will pair them up with girls to help them understand their class better. No one is judged in the sorority based on their grades, but are supported in every way possible to let them be the best that they can be.
While I do think of AGD as a great sorority who follows our mission statement for the most part, there are things that make us less congruent. I think that more girls can participate in others philanthropy events. Many times girls sing up to do an event and bail out last minute, which looks bad on AGD as a whole. Also I think we can be more involved with other sororities and fraternities in our community. While we do mingle with other I think we could put more effort into who we know and into creating a better bond with them. I hate how the greek system is judged and always talked about, and I think that we all need to stand together as a whole and one way of doing that is to get to know everyone no matter their stereotype and give them the time of day to truly get to know them.
Not one person or fraternity/sorority is perfect, but I think overall the Greek community can make more of an effort to stand a united front and not only support each other, but support Ohio State in general with many other organizations that are present.

What are my values and what do they mean to me?
value- relative worth, merit, or importance (thank you dictionary.com)
I believe that values make you who you are. Everyone has a core set of values that they try and live by everyday; however, how often do you actually think what your values are? I can tell you that I do not say to myself on a regular basis "oh hey I should probably do this because it goes along with what I value in life". It is such a huge part of us but no one really takes the time to sit down and think, what truly are my values?
I like to think that I live by my core values on a daily basis and try to be the best I can be. Of course there are times when I do something I regret later but doesn't everyone? My values that I personally live by are passion, dependability, humor, compassion, respect, support, truthworthy and youthfulness. There are many other values that are a part of me but I guess these are the ones that I find truly important in me.
Passion- If there is no passion behind what I'm doing then I know I'm not going to put my all into it. Passion is what drives me to do my best and to do whatever it takes for me to accomplish my goal because I know it truly means something to me and I will be completely gratified once I'm done.
Dependability/Trustworthy- If you aren't dependable then why would anyone turn to you? Dependability allows you to gain so many people in your life and you know that they are going to stick around because with dependability comes trust, and trust means almost everything.
Humor/Youthfulness- Humor is what allows you to not take yourself too seriously. Of course you want to try your best but if you for some reason fail or don't achieve something as you wish you had, humor lets you let it slide and move on with your life. Humor also leads to happiness and will make you love your life through the good and the bad. Humor will also keep you young. I hope that when I'm old with grey hair I still feel like I'm in my 30s and am loving life and no one will be able to guess my age. Youthfulness keeps you alive.
Compassion- This value allows for me to sympathize with people and help me understand others better. Without compassion, I feel like people would have a lot more hatred in this world because they would not be able to understand others mistakes and accept them for their flaws, which everyone has.
Respect- Respect is respect. Everyone is fully aware what it means because it was the first value we were ever taught in life and is also the greatest value we will ever be taught. It's known as the "golden rule" to treat other how you would want to be treated, and its completely 150% correct.
Support- Everyone needs someone to turn to when they are having a rough day or are going through something they can't handle on their own. I like to think of myself as someone people can easily turn to. I have no problem listening to someones problems and helping them out with whatever they need because I know I would want it in return. To me, this is my greatest value as a person and hopefully others agree.
Last, but most certainly nowhere near least, is family and friends. Without them I would not be who I am today. They have helped me through the good and the bad and I have always been able to depend on them no matter what. Joining AGD gave me even more amazing friends who I know are going to be a part of my life forever. Family has got your back no matter what and will accept you for who you are.
Here's a clip from my favorite show in the whole wide world; Boy Meets World. I was literally raised on this show and would watch in on a daily basis, and honestly I think it had something to do with who I am today and what values I instill in my everyday life.
These values all wound up together are what I like to live by. I hope that I live by these values everyday and that I will continue to live by them because I believe that if everyone would live by their values then the world would be a better place.

Who am I and how do I want to change the world?
Who am I? There is so much that can go into answering a question like that. What should I include? What do people truly care to know? The answer to those questions vary from person to person.. My name is Audrey Mowery and I have lived in Dublin, Ohio my entire life. My little brother Brett and I have one of the best relationships a brother and sister can have. We are always there for each other and rely on each other when it seems like there is no one else. I'm so proud of him for everything that he has accomplished and can't wait to see all that he is going to do with his life. My life has always been sports. I started when I was 5 years old with dance and throughout my life I have played soccer, swimming, gymnastics, basketball, volleyball and softball. Softball was my true sport and I played year round for all of high school. My dad is my hero and will always be. My dad coached me in every sport and thats why he is one of my best friends. I can tell him everything and anything and honestly I probably tell him a little too much. While I'm no longer playing varsity sports, it still plays a major role in my life as I am majoring in sports leadership and sports humanities and plan on going to grad school for sports management. I chose to go to the best college in the whole wide world. I am a true buckeye fan through and through and nothing will ever change that. Nothing makes me happier than fall and knowing that every single saturday I get to watch the buckeyes and cheer them on.
Now does all of that really say who I am? It gives the small facts of my life but doesn't truly explain who I am. I am a very caring person. For most of my life I have put others in front of myself and sometimes it has bit me in the ass, but I still feel great with how many people I have helped. I may be one of the most sarcastic people you will ever meet. I love my friends more than anything in this world. I rely on them so much and truly surround myself with people I love. I joined Alpha Gamma Delta last year and it has changed my life. Coming to Ohio State I knew a handful of people but after joining AGD I gained sisters and met the best people of my life. I know that this is always the joke of sororities but I can truly see these girls as my bridesmaids! I know that a lot of these girls are going to be in my life for many years after college. I believe that people make mistakes and as long as you learn from them, then everything is going to be alright. No one is perfect and the people who accept you for your mistakes are the ones who are truly important in your life. I live through quotes and music. Without those two things I don't know how I would handle all of my thoughts and make it through some of the hardest times of my life. I like to think that I'm a happy and light person and people love to be around me. I love making people laugh and hope that I will be remembered for that and for always being there when someone needed me. There are two quotes that I live by:
Now how do I want to change the world? That is something I'm not sure how to answer. Sometimes a small difference can make a huge difference for someone else. I feel like I would rather make small differences for a lot of people that in the end, could turn into a big difference. If I can make someone smile when they are having one of the worst days of their life, if people know they can turn to me at any point and I will drop whatever I'm doing, if someone remembers me for the rest of their life, then I feel like I made a change in this world that I would be happy with. To be a huge part of a few peoples lives, than to be remembered by many for doing something that barely effects them, would be just fine with me.

"Most people are stronger than they think, they just forget to believe in it sometimes."
"The important thing is not to be bitter over life's disappointments. learn to let go of the past, and recognize that everyday won't be sunny. and when you find yourself in the darkness of despair, remember it's only in the black of the night you can see the stars and those stars lead you home. so don't be afraid to make mistakes, stumble, fall. because most of the time the greatest rewards come from doing the things that scare you the most. maybe you will get everything you wish for, maybe you will get more than you could ever have imagined. who knows where life will take you. the road is long, and in the end, the journey is the destination."
